as a sports announcer. I just did the play-by-play of the last minute in regulation and all of overtime in the Kansas-Memphis game for Pete, who was heading back to Reston from the Nationals game. He said my commentary was very good, although I think I should practice more. It was like this:
Me: And Kansas has the ball, and the Kansas guy is bouncing it, and he passes it to the other dude, and whoa now ANOTHER guy has it–and he scores two points for his team!
Pete: For Kansas?
Me: No, Memphis. Oh wait no yeah Kansas! For Kansas! And now they’re dribbling it around and the Memphis guy is at the top of the key–the paint–no, he’s just, I don’t know–he’s running around a lot–aaand boom goes the dynamite.
Pete: Ok, just…what’s the score?
That’s what happens when you’re actually watching Project Runway and listening to the radio.
I don’t think you missed your calling. I think you,re probably better as an English teacher!
I thought it was excellent! You had me totally hooked (with just two lines) and I even watched the game! I could hear (er..read) the excitement and suspense in your voice.
