What’s going on in the lives of our neighbors?
1) The folks down the hall just got back from an extended trip out of town. In the meantime, their apartment was forcibly entered by the N.Y. fire department, who sent a sizable detachment up all five flights to check a potential gas leak. Melissa watched it all through the peephole, and was waved off when she stuck her head out to see if we should be concerned. Among the firemen themselves, at least one Thanksgiving-related building explosion joke was cracked.
2) Our next-door neighbor seems to have traded her radio and ‘NSync collection for a karaoke machine, and she’s been belting it out ever since. Unfortunately, she literally has a voice like a wounded alley cat. The good news is that Melissa unlocked the secret to quieting our nearest American Idol reject: give a loud “whoot-whoot” in time with the tunes. I guess she doesn’t like an audience after all.
