The Proposal

This post on the proposal is a little overdue, I know. Until recently I did not know of the nuplog blog and was a little overwhelmed by the holiday hussle and bussle to sit down and actually document the special event. So here I am and I am ready to take on my bridal blogger duties. The proposal:
The Hildreth family is notorious for their Santa Christmas party. Every year Mr. Hildreth dresses up as Santa Claus, and a very tasteful one at that may I add. These parties are aways anticipated by friends and family for months to come. The hype itself over this party made me excited. I mean odiviously it was something to talk about and I was interested to see just how much holiday fun that would ensue.
Children were anxious for Santa to arrive, as were the adults. There was good food, good wine, and great company; everyone was enjoying themselves immensely.
After all the children received their turn on Santa's lap Haverly suggested that Heath and I join Santa (Johnny) for a photo opt. So we both knelt around Santa awaiting the first Christmas photo opportunity. Then all of a sudden Heath asked Matt for this certain gift. (This next part is clear and fuzzy all at the same time. I was extremely surprised.) Heath bent down on one knee (his good one of course) and handed me this small wrapped box. Well, I was surprised! I knew what it was before I opened it, but it was just so astonishing to me that I couldn't even speak.
I unwrapped the small box and it seemed like it took me a good 2 mins. to expose to gorgeous ring. Everything was in slow motion. I looked into Heath's eyes and I just knew that he was so happy with his choice. The ring is perfect. It fits me to a T and I couldn't be happier that he chose it without my help in the slightest.
That was such a beautiful night and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Both of our families were at the party and were able to experience this wonderful moment with us. Heath took my parents out to lunch a few days prior to the proposal and they gave Heath their blessing right away. We are so lucky to have parents that love both of us and support us more.
Here's to the new year!

We have received Father Pete's blessing

Not only that, the good father has agreed to take time off from his busy schedule of exorcisms and punishing heretics to preside over our wedding. I have assured him that his role will be less painful than, say, rescuing a young girl from the throes of demonic possession. Let us hope that the same could be said of all who participate in the upcoming event.

Seriously, though: I would like to thank Pete and Melissa for being supportive of our idea. Emily and I are thrilled to have our good friends so intimately involved in the process!

Emily has already purchased a wedding dress, by the way. I will ask her to post on her search and quick success.

Emily and Heath: Best Wishes, Congratulations

I'm still waiting on video confirmation, but Heath and Emily became engaged last weekend at his family's annual Christmas gathering. Pending the video, let's just say it involved his dad's lap. (Don't worry, Emily, I've been there myself. However, I received a lump of coal.) Good show!
