An Olympic Moment

Melissa is rarely impressed by my navigating abilities. Here, I am plotting an impromptu afternoon walking tour of Lake Placid, New York. We didn't know it at the time, but I had no idea what I was doing.

Mark, Brent, Carolyn, Melissa and I spent a weekend crisscrossing Central and Upstate New York. Yes, it's a large state, so yes, we spent almost all of our time packed five to a Camry.

Taking cues from ice dancing in Turin Sunday, Mark sprawled all over the Olympic speed skating oval. Actually, we all did. Melissa dug the sub-zero temps.

I'd like to offer a possible caption for the photo in this post...

"But honey, see here's where we meet the mules at the northwest pass. They are bringing in our 2 week supply of Kimchi, a bottle of rye whiskey, and water to refill our shower-in-a-bag, so THIS week on the honeymoon will be much more relaxing."

Two corrections:

1. "We didn't know it at the time, but I had no idea what I was doing."

We didn't? Says who?

2. "Mark sprawled all over the Olympic speed skating oval. Actually, we all did."

I remained upright on the ice, thank you very much. I think I was too cold for my limbs to bend in any manner that would have caused me to fall.
